FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What Is Epoxy flooring?

We offer a few different types of epoxy coatings, but they are a mixture of resin and a hardening chemical that creates a smooth and even finish. Epoxy flooring is a coating that can be applied to concrete to create a durable, waterproof, slip resistant, and stain resistant surface. Some of our flooring options are UV resistant and antimicrobial. Apply to garages, basements, pool decks, industrial spaces, retail locations, restaurants, schools, modern office buildings, modern living rooms, showrooms, hospitals, and more.

  • What are the benefits of epoxy flooring?

The benefits of epoxy floor paint are many, including but not limited to:

    • Price is a top factor as it’s inexpensive to install and long-lasting.
    • It’s easy to clean simply sweep and mop, no sanding or polishing is required. Just reapply a topcoat every 5 to 7 years, or as directed by your epoxy flooring expert.
    • It’s moisture and stain resistant so if you spill a harsh chemical such as oil it won’t stain and won’t seep through.
    • Although the finish is high-gloss epoxy is slip resistant.
    • Epoxy can be personalized with a variety of colors, patterns, and swirls which can increase the property value of your home or make your business stand out. View some of our finished projects  by click on button below!

  • Where can epoxy flooring be installed?

A popular commercial and residential garage floor coating, epoxy can be installed anywhere with existing concrete. We’ve installed our epoxy and polyaspartic coatings to garages, basements, pool decks, industrial spaces, retail locations, restaurants, schools, modern office buildings, modern living rooms, showrooms, hospitals, and more.

    Our Work
  • Can I install an epoxy coating myself?

We’re all for DIY, but there is simply too much that can go wrong—so no. The preparation stage requires a professional, as well as choosing the correct layers, how thick it should be applied, ensuring each layer is even, and providing the epoxy ample time to cure.

  • How to prepare my floors before installing epoxy?

Professional preparation is the first step in ensuring a long-lasting strong bond, as well as a smooth and beautiful finish. We will repair cracks, pits, gouges, and spalling. If needed, we will shot blast or grind your concrete to level the flooring and ensure previous coatings are fully removed. The final step in the preparation process is to clean and vacuum your concrete.

  • How long does epoxy flooring last?

When properly prepped, professionally installed, and regularly maintained epoxy floor covering will last longer than most other flooring options. In harsh industrial environments, your flooring will last 8 to 10 years. In your office and moderate commercial environments (garages, basements, schools, hospitals, showrooms) your flooring can last up to 20 years if it is properly sealed every 5 years or so. With proper cleaning, maintenance, and resealing they can last 15 to 30 years in your home.

    Our Work
  • How long does it take to install epoxy flooring?

Installation time varies on the type of epoxy you choose and how large an area we must coat. With a solid color basic coating your floor will cure and dry the same day—but this does not include prep time. Prep time can vary greatly depending on the condition of your existing concrete. Most of our projects take 1 to 2 days to prep, clean, coat, and cure before you can move items back in.

  • Can I add a new epoxy coating on top of an existing coating?

Yes, but first we will need to remove the existing coating. We will shot blast or concrete grind your floor to remove the current polish or epoxy. Then we will repair, prep, and clean your concrete before installing your new flooring. We never install new floor coating without removing the existing layers first as the best way to ensure a strong bond is to strip, assess, repair, and prep the concrete first.

  • Why should I seal my concrete?

If you love the raw and rustic look of concrete a simple seal is all you need. Concrete is always wicking moisture, which in excess will damage your floor. Sealing your concrete will minimize the amount of moisture that gets in, as well as reduce staining if spills are cleaned up quickly. However, sealed concrete is susceptible to damage caused by high traffic, abrasion, chemicals, UV rays, and more. For full protection, we will help you explore more durable options.

  • Which type of epoxy coating is right for me?

To determine which type of epoxy flooring is right for you, you must consider factors such as your budget, timeframe, expected lifecycle, durability, performance features, and design aesthetic. All our concrete floor coatings are low maintenance and easy to clean. We will work with you to help you choose the right option for your home or commercial space.

    • Sealed concrete—concrete is naturally beautiful, but it’s porous. By applying a simple epoxy base coat and urethane topcoat you can eliminate moisture seepage while maintaining the raw, rustic, and unrefined concrete finish you prefer. We will have to prep and grind first before we seal your concrete.
    • Polyaspartic flooring—epoxy is not UV resistant and yellows over time, so we never use epoxy outdoors. For outdoor flooring or UV resistant indoor flooring, we use polyaspartic coating, which is similar to polyurethane. Polyaspartics require fewer layers so they cure faster, and they are high gloss by nature. We can reduce the sheen if it’s not your style by applying an additional product. As a coating that doesn’t heat up in direct sunlight, this is our top choice for pool decks.
    • Flake flooring—another UV resistant and quick cure option is flake flooring.  It’s also scratch resistant, chemical resistant, slip resistant, and moisture resistant. Use indoors and outside for function and style. The “flake” finish has a texture similar to that of an orange peel which makes it slip resistant. Choose from an endless variety of colors and combinations.
    • Quartz flooring—for extreme durability and an antimicrobial option quartz floor systems are the way to go. At 1/8-inch-thick quartz is also rock-solid. We start with an epoxy base, then the quartz, and finish up with a topcoat most suited to your needs. Enjoy extreme durability and chemical, stain, and slip resistance. Quartz is also highly decorative and aesthetically appealing so choose from a variety of color options to elevate your concrete. Unlike our other floor coatings, quartz coatings can also be applied vertically.
    • Metallic flooring—sometimes this type of coating is also referred to as metallic pearl, pearl epoxy, or pearlescent floor coating. If you want to transform your concrete to create a cozy, unique, luxurious, or artistic space a metallic floor coating is the way to go. It’s a low VOC flooring option that increases durability and is slip and water resistant. An indoor-only option as it is not UV resistant. This 3-layer system begins with epoxy, a head-turning decorative coating in the middle, and urethane on top for a satin finish. No one will know it’s concrete!
    • Solid color flooring—our solid color floor coatings are timeless. We determine the precise base layers depending on your unique performance needs, finishing it off with epoxy or polyaspartic topcoat. Clients often feel like their space is larger after the new coating is applied. Benefits include fast cure and drying times, zero VOCs with an epoxy topcoat, high gloss, and slip resistance.
